WPI's Global Projects Program 

The Massachusetts Water Resource Outreach Center (WROC) was established in 2015.  The WROC is one of Worcester Polytechnic Institute's (WPI) 50+ project centers that exist in the United States and Internationally. We developed the WROC to assist Massachusetts communities with their water resource challenges.

Through the WROC, third year undergraduate students work with community sponsors (e.g., a watershed association, government agency, or municipality) in interdisciplinary teams to tackle a water resource project at the intersection of technology and society.

 

Importantly, the projects are proposed by the community partner.

TIMING:

  • To begin, students take a preparation course (January-early March).

  • Next, students work full-time (~40 hours/week) on the project (mid-March-early May).
